Established in 1934, the League of Minnesota Poets is an affiliate of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. The League of Minnesota Poets has six regional chapters located throughout the state of Minnesota. As an organization, the League strives to make Minnesota poetry conscious, and conscious to its own poets. This mission is accomplished in a variety activities throughout the year. You can check their calendar to see what's coming up. The League hosts a Spring and Fall meeting each year for member chapters to meet and celebrate poetry. Poetry is also promoted through their annual publication, The Moccasin, which is open to member's submissions.

We promote personal narrative–visual, oral and written–and supporting literacy programs that enhance the quality of life in Ely, Minnesota. As a chapter of the League of Minnesota Poets, we strive to make Minnesota poetry conscious, and conscious of its own poets, with an emphasis on poets in the Ely Minnesota area.
