The Great American Poetry Show
Hardcover poetry anthology is open year-round to submissions of poems in English on any subject and in any style, length and number. Submit by mail or email. Each anthology contains about 100 poems; publication schedule is about 2 years between volumes. Simultaneous submissions and previously published poems are welcome. Response time is usually 1-3 months. Each contributor receives one free copy of the volume in which theirr work appears. Site also has an extensive directory of literary magazine links and poetry book publishers.

Modern & Contemporary American Poetry (Coursera)
ModPo is a fast-paced introduction to modern and contemporary US poetry, with an emphasis on experimental verse. Participants (who need no prior experience with poetry) will learn how to read poems that are supposedly "difficult."
Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference
An intimate lakeside setting with award-winning authors and teachers to practice the arts of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Applications and registrations are processed first-come, first-served basis. Workshops will be closed at 12 participants. A writing sample in the genre you are applying for must be submitted unless you are applying in a genre for a workshop that you’ve previously attended at the Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference.
Modern Poetry (Open Yale Courses)
This course covers the body of modern poetry, its characteristic techniques and concerns. The authors discussed include Yeats, Eliot, Pound, Moore, Bishop, and Frost. Additional lectures on the poetry of WWI and the Harlem Renaissance.
Water~Stone Review Summer Writing Workshop
Write. Restore. Engage. Experience all of this and more at our intensive residential retreat set on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. At the Water~Stone Review Summer Writing Workshop, you will experience a deep immersion in the process and craft of writing with nationally known authors in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Students can choose to commute to class each day or stay on St. Olaf's picturesque campus. Those who stay on campus can use their free time to write, read, explore Northfield, and socialize.
National Poetry Month: Exemplars from EDSITEment: Poetry for the Classroom
The National Endowment produced these standalone lessons for select poems by well-known poets like Emily Dickinson, Rita Dove, and Lewis Carroll. The poem-specific resources include a lesson plan, related resources, a link to the work, and information about the author. The lessons were designed for English language arts, align to the Common Core, and are meant for elementary, middle school, and high school students.

As a trustee on Kiva, Springboard for the Arts can work with artists putting their loan proposals and business plans together, and help match proposals with matching funds. Loans can be up to $25,000 on a 3 year re-payment schedule. We use our Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists curriculum, consultations, and business planning experience to get you to a place to succeed.
Lanesboro Artist Residency Program
Supported through 2020 by the Jerome Foundation, the Lanesboro Artist Residency Program awards two to three residencies per year to emerging artists with projects that activate the people & places of Lanesboro while instigating positive change. The program’s place-based and community-engaged focus is geared toward emerging artists that are driven to explore ways in which their work can be applied to the community and how Lanesboro’s rural community can inform their work. Artist Residents utilize a dynamic and compelling array of community assets as a catalytic vehicle for engagement and artistic experimentation, while benefiting from dedicated live/work space and ample time to create.
Loft Mentor Series
The Loft Mentor Series in Poetry and Creative Prose offers twelve emerging Minnesota writers the opportunity to work intensively with six nationally acclaimed writers of prose and poetry.
McKnight Artist Fellowships for Writers
The Loft Literary Center administers the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Writers in creative prose, poetry, and children’s literature. The fellowships carry $25,000 cash awards.
New York Mills Arts Retreat
The New York Mills Arts Retreat residency program considers artists from all disciplines (performance, written, audio and visual media). The selection committee awards residencies to artists based on artistic merit and commitment to the arts. There is just one artist at a time on residency, which supports our focus on providing virtually uninterrupted time for creative development and exploration. We provide stays of two to six weeks for artists at NO COST for room (solo occupancy of a one-bedroom house and access to studio space in our Cultural Center). Each artist provides her or his own transportation and board. There is no stipend.

Northfield Poetry Festival
The 2018 Northfield Poetry Festival will include a morning poetry reading for children (elementary school age) at Content Bookstore, and afternoon poetry event at the Northfield Public Library, and an evening poetry contest and reading at Imminent Brewing.
